Warnsing’s work is a confrontation with images, signs, paintings and picture-making in general and the way we perceive all this in our society.
The topics of the paintings go from all day still life scenes to references to art history and pop culture.
Often there are formal breaks in the paintings, which question our habits to see things, images and signs.
The paintings are based on drawings, which sometimes are still visible when spaces where not filled up completely and shows the process between the idea of an image and the result.
This process is always visible, sometimes more hidden, sometimes as the main topic of the painting, so are references to our digital world and how they are used to look at digital pictures, displays and advertisements.
